Crater is a Seattle-based electronic pop duo consisting of Ceci Gomez and Kessiah Gordon. The band has toured nationally with the likes of Canadian goth pop artist TR/ST and glitter pop band MS MR. Their debut full length, Talk to Me so I Can Fall Asleep, is now available via Help Yourself Records.

Talk to Me so I Can Fall Asleep emerged from Ceci and Kessiah’s adjoining bedrooms during the long rainy season. They sculpted the album from a massive collection of internet treasures: arcane samples, torrents, and GIFS all crammed into a desktop folder aptly named “Black Hole.” Out of this chaos surfaced a record of brooding dance tracks that stutter into hysteria.

Goodbye Heart

Seattle dreampop duo Goodbye Heart takes us into their dynamic world of atmospheric synths, gritty electronic percussion, and heart-wrenching vocals. Drawing inspiration from lush, textural movie soundtracks and their native New York City's hip-hop roots, Goodbye Heart creates an emotional, multi-layered sonic experience for driving, dancing, falling in love, or falling apart.

Goodbye Heart is Sam Ford and Nila K Leigh, two friends whose musical collaboration began in NYC and has since brought them to Seattle. Their musical influences extend from The Cure to Johnny Jewel to Nas.

Science and the Beat

Multi-instrumentalists Tasha Katrine and Rob Zilla have been carving out their creative vision since being introduced in their teens. The approach has been dexterous, mixing live shows with elaborate video and lighting installations – most notably as More Machine Than Man. As a fixture in the Goth Industrial scene, the pair was conscious of the expectations and rigid identity that develops with a long-term project. To keep those limitations from becoming self-imposed, the mission became letting creativity have free reign.

The duo’s new project, Science and the Beat’s debut Future Blue, sounds like actualization: two people growing into their cynicism and finding it to be just as potent as their youthful yearnings. Produced by Wade Alin (Christ Analogue, The Atomica Project), Future Blue pulsates with clean, taut synths that create something like a strop for the sharp and decisive use of guitar.

16"x24" Photographic Print

Portrait taken during the rehearsal for a one-time performance between Annie Clark (St. Vincent) and Benjamin Gibbard (Death Cab for Cutie). Ben was learning how to play and sing Annie’s song “Actor Out Of Work” and Annie was learning the chords to an acoustic version of The Postal Service’s “Such Great Heights”.

Value: $250

Artist: Rachel Demy

Everyone wants to be remembered, but more than that, everyone wants to be seen. Today we are more public than ever, more visible, but harder to truly see. The moments we choose to show are packaged and polished, and these are the ones that reveal the least. Rachel Demy strives to break past the contrived, which is why her photography is largely portraiture. Portland bred and Seattle based, she got her first camera at age 7 and started filtering the world through its lens. And so began a lifelong obsession with what she found there. Touring with artists like The National, Richard Swift, Death Cab for Cutie, St. Vincent, and more, trained her eye to find the in-between moments, where her innate ability to make her subjects comfortable produced honest photos. Her biggest goal is to give people photos where, instead of analyzing their appearance, they see a photo that reflects who they are as a complete person. It is her goal to really see people, to show beauty beyond curation. This is where she does her work; in the oft-missed substance beyond the pose.

Earring Trio

This trio of sterling/fine silver studs is meant to be mixed and matched. Using precious metal clay and molds made from toys, each piece is completely hand-made, unlike lost-wax casting. This allows for an attention to detail that improves on the source material substantially enough that small but highly detailed replicas are possible. These weapon earrings are tiny, unexpected, and very cute while maintaining enough of an edge to be interesting.

Value: $120

Artist: Brooke Macbeth

Brooke Macbeth is a metalsmith and enthusiast of arcana, natural materials, and human artifacts. The latest collection includes many miniature weapons, based on descriptions and photographs of museum pieces as well as on her seven-year-old son’s toys and interest in World War II. In addition to selling her jewelry and metalworks to private clients and at local Los Angeles art shows, she collaborates on a furniture line with her brother. Quality of materials and craftsmanship is of the utmost value in all these pursuits, which is reflected in the highly detailed miniatures that are part of this collection of earrings.
